The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made some surprising changes, moving County Directors and Sub-County officers, getting some by surprise according to our sources.
Alex Cheruiyot, the County Director for Makueni County has been promoted to Regional Director and transferred to head North Eastern. He will replace Aden Ibrahim who went into retirement.
Grace Mwangi, the current County Director for Kericho County has been transferred to Makueni, to replace Alex Cheruiyot. Milton Oyugi, the man serving as the County Director for Nairobi County has been moved to Kericho to replace Grace.
Mr. Barasa Batoya, the current Deputy County Director of Kericho County has been recalled to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) headquarters to be “reassigned.” Isaiah Sauroki, the current Sub-County Director of Khwisero, has been moved to Bomet East. He will be switching places with Emmanuel Otieno who goes back to Khwisero.
Kuresoi South Sub-County Director Albert Ngare has been transferred too. He is required to report to Mbeere Sub-County in Embu. Catherine Wachira, the lady who has been in charge of Nakuru West Sub-County as the Sub-County Director, has been recalled to the TSC headquarters for “reassignment.”
Pamela Matoke, who has been the Sub-County Director for Mumias East Sub-County has been moved to Kirui County. Other changes are yet to be announced but our sources indicate that the TSC will shake up all the counties and Sub-Counties across the country.
The surprise moving of the county bosses by TSC is expected to bring new changes in the sector as the teachers’ employer struggles with the issue of delocalization, teachers’ transfers, and hiring new teachers to take care of the controversial CBC program.
So far, at least 33,000 teachers have been employed by TSC and deployed across the country to kick off the Junior Secondary Schools (Grade 7) that have experienced massive teachers shortage.
