Israel Has Exited The UN Human Rights Council

Israel has officially withdrawn from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UN Human Rights Council), effective immediately. Gideon Sa’ar, Israel’s foreign minister, announced that Israel will no longer be a member of the global organization.

The withdrawal of Israel came just a few hours after the United States, another key member of the UN Human Rights Council, exited the organization. The two nations’ withdrawal has dealt a blow to the international body that has been the world’s watchdog for years.

“The United States withdrew from the antisemitic UN Human Rights Council, and ended all of the support for UNRWA which funneled money to Hamas and which is very disloyal to humanity,” announced President Donald Trump, seemingly furious but with no regrets.

“Following the withdrawal of the United States from the UN Human Rights Council, Israel would like to announce the withdrawal from the same,” said the Foreign Minister of Israel. Israel says it has no plans of ever wanting to rejoin the Council.

Israel has been accused of massive human rights violations while dealing with the Palestinians where more than 30,000 people, mostly women and children have been killed. The country has also been accused of putting Palestinian kids in jails and leaving them for the dead.

The violations forced South Africa to formally sue Israel for human rights violations. Israel has been protesting ever since saying the world was siding with terrorists at the expense of the securing and well-being of Israelis. The United States, on the other hand, has been on the side of Israel, supporting every move including with money and weapons.

Donald Trump seems determined to reshape the United States’ policies with major withdrawals from major world bodies. The US has so far withdrawn from the World Health Organization, pulled out of the support for peace missions in Haiti, and has shut down USAID.
