Wafula Chebukati, the former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is dead and Kenyans are not giving the old man an opportunity to “rest in peace.” It is like they want him to rest in pieces. The internet is now full of memes and hate about the Mwenda Zake.
TikTok is where the “roasting of Wafula Chebukati” is happening. It seems many Kenyan youths hated the man. They blame him for imposing and installing the current regime that is screwing them hard. And as he dies to leave them with the problem he created, they are not letting him go easy.
Kenyan Gen Zs don’t care if you are dead. If you do them dirty while still alive, they will haunt you to your grave and Wafula Chebukati is a perfect example. They have haunted him until the family has come out to ask for some “privacy.” Sounds like asking for a “time-out”.
Wafula Chebukati presided over one of the most controversial elections in Kenya, of course, second to that which Samuel Kivuitu conducted. Kivuitu also died miserably after over 1,000 Kenyans died as a result of the elections that he declared. Chebukati has also died a garbage. No memory.
What lessons can our corrupt politicians learn from this? Do good while in a public office. Do that which you have been elected or appointed to do and God and the people will bless you. Do not become a small god and start urinating on the people who are responsible for your success.
One day you will die and instead of people shedding a tear, they will celebrate. They will remind the Devil that he has one more threat joining him in hell and that he should be careful and prepare for a possible coup.
