The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is urging all taxpayers to update their phone numbers on the iTax platform, aiming to boost revenue collection and reduce tax evasion. This update process has been streamlined for ease and efficiency.
“KRA wishes to inform all registered taxpayers of an ongoing data cleanup exercise targeting PIN registration details,” reads a Notice issued on Tuesday. “This initiative is intended to uphold the accuracy of our taxpayer registry and improve service delivery.”
To facilitate this, KRA has introduced a straightforward verification process for logging into the iTax system. This process confirms mobile numbers, ensuring secure communication and better service.
To update their contact details, taxpayers should log into iTax with their PIN and password, where they will see their currently registered phone number. If the number is correct, they can select “send verification code” to receive a code on that number. If the number needs updating, users can enter their current mobile number, submit it, and receive a verification code to complete the login.
This notice follows an earlier announcement on June 24, 2024, in which KRA encouraged taxpayers to refresh personal details for a comprehensive PIN data cleanup. Taxpayers are advised to review and update all contact information, including physical and email addresses, business location, residency status, and any directorships or partnerships.
