Malaysian Delegation In Kenya To Boost Industrial Collaboration

by Business Watch Team

Golden Africa Kenya Ltd (GAKL) hosted a high-level delegation from Malaysia this week, spotlighting its industrial capabilities, sustainable practices, and strong bilateral ties with Malaysia.

The delegation, led by YB Datuk Seri Haji Johari Abdul Ghani, Malaysia’s Minister of Plantation and Commodities, included top officials from the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and the Malaysian High Commission in Kenya. The visit marked a significant reaffirmation of Malaysia’s role as a strategic partner in Kenya’s agro-industrial development, particularly in palm oil-based manufacturing.

During the visit to GAKL’s Nairobi facility, guests toured its cutting-edge operations — including a 500-ton-per-day oil refinery, high-capacity soap plant, and modern edible oil packaging lines. The company also owns a private edible oil storage terminal near Mombasa Port, with a capacity of 32,000 metric tons, reinforcing its role as a regional logistics hub.

Golden Africa manufactures some of East Africa’s most trusted household brands, including Avena and Pika cooking oils, as well as Zenta soap — all produced under strict international quality and food safety standards such as the prestigious FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001:2015.

The delegation was particularly impressed by the company’s sustainability initiatives, which include a solar power plant and biomass boilers powered by agricultural waste — a pioneering approach in heavy industry that significantly reduces carbon emissions.

Managing Director Mr. Fathi Saeed expressed gratitude for the visit, stating:

“It is an honor to host our Malaysian partners and demonstrate how our collaboration has resulted in world-class brands, sustainable production, and industrial growth in Kenya. This partnership is built on shared values of quality, innovation, and mutual respect.”

Chairman Dato’ Fouad Hayel Saeed added:

“Golden Africa Kenya stands as a proud example of partnership and collaboration. Malaysia has been instrumental in supplying raw materials, technical expertise, and vision. We look forward to scaling up this partnership to serve Africa’s growing consumer markets.”

Organized in close collaboration with MPOC and the Malaysian High Commission, the visit aligns with Malaysia’s strategic goal to expand palm oil exports and strengthen industrial ties across Africa.

Golden Africa Kenya Ltd continues to lead the region not only in manufacturing excellence but also in employee welfare, with over 400 staff benefiting from on-site medical care, recreational facilities, and a workplace culture rooted in dignity and development.
