Eldoret-based third-year engineering student Karl Karanja is the overall winner of the just concluded ‘Picture Life Together’ mobile photography competition by OPPO Kenya, where he walks away with the Ksh.200,000 grand prize.
The competition saw the contestants put their photography and video skills into action by using the OPPO Reno5 through images and short videos and submitting their entries accompanied by a short description of fewer than 500 words.
While awarding Karanja and the other finalists, OPPO Kenya Head of Communications and Projects Muthoni Wachira said, “we received amazing entries that displayed one-of-its-kind talents and skills among Kenyans, and we are glad to be part of bringing out that which Kenyans are known for; creativity.”
Peter Mukhoye, the first runners-up, received Ksh 100,000, while William Chege, who came in the third took home Ksh. 50,000 shillings. The three winners were selected in the final stage of the competition where five finalists were taken for a masterclass and allowed to shoot at The Nairobi National Park and Karura Forest.

The Winners got a chance to explore the AI Mixed Portrait – the first double exposure video effect for smartphone – and AI Highlight Video, an industry-leading feature which uses intelligent light detection to combine OPPO’s advanced Ultra Night Video Algorithms and Live HDR Algorithms to significantly enhance video quality in dim and backlit scenes.
