Former Jubilee MP Candidate for Westlands Dedan Mugo led a team of Kikuyu leaders who endorsed Tim Wanyonyi’s bid committing to reroute their support base to his campaigns.
Initially, Mugo had opted to run as an independent after the Azimio coalition zoned Westlands in favor of the ODM party. He later dropped out of the race in favor of Wanyonyi.
The two fierce competitors during the 2017 elections have vowed to consolidate their support base and ensure a mega win for Wanyonyi and Azimio’s presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
“We are going to support Baba for President down to MCAs. As Mt. Kenya community in Westlands we boast of over 40,000 votes and today we unanimously endorsed Hon. Tim Wanyonyi,” Mugo said.
Wanyonyi committed to working with the leaders during and after the elections.
“This is the team of Westlands. As you can see the unity of our coalition parties has come together to plan a robust campaign for our presidential candidate, governor, and all other positions.”
The leaders credited Wanyonyi for his development track record making reference to the transparent bursary allocation, scholarship initiative for needy bright students as well as youth and women empowerment programs.
